Juz ʿAmma is the part of the Qurʼan most Muslims memorise first and reflect on last. Purpose & Decree takes the thirtieth juzʼ slowly, as an argument rather than a recitation list, and asks what its sūrahs are actually for.
The reading is built around the objectives — the maqāṣid — that the sūrahs keep returning to: what a human being is, what the day of accounting means for how today is spent, and why gratitude, humility and accountability are treated as the load-bearing virtues rather than decorative ones.
It is written for somebody who wants more than a translation and less than a technical tafsīr. Traditional scholarship sits alongside a contemporary lens, and every chapter turns toward practice: not what the passage means in the abstract, but what it asks of a reader who has to go to work in the morning.
Useful for personal study, for a weekly circle, and for teachers building a reflective unit on the thirtieth juzʼ.
