For school leaders and classroom teachers

Academic curriculum resources for Islamic schools

RISE publishes English-language academic resources taught through the lens of Islam. Schools can use printed workbooks and online presenter decks to teach reading, writing, mathematics, wellness, and other subjects, with the lens of Islam built into every lesson.

Start with the subject your teachers need

The Reading and Writing with Purpose series develops reading comprehension and writing through stories of hope from the Qur’an. Three student companions move from narrative writing toward expository and analytical writing. The corresponding educator courses support classroom delivery.

The online catalogue also includes grade-labelled academic courses. Each course page identifies its audience, curriculum alignment, learning outcomes, and chapter sequence. Inspect the actual syllabus before choosing a resource for a grade or department.

Review alignment before adopting a course

Some RISE grade 4–6 academic courses identify the Alberta Program of Studies as their curriculum reference. A Canadian province or US state may sequence skills differently. Your curriculum lead should compare the listed outcomes with the standards your school follows.

A resource can support classroom instruction without replacing a school’s full program. Select the units that fit your teaching plan, then decide what additional instruction, assessment, and differentiation your pupils need.

  1. Choose a subject and grade from the public catalogue.
  2. Read the learning outcomes and chapter list; inspect available sample slides.
  3. Map the material to your local curriculum and assessment schedule.
  4. Request a proposal by grade, subject, or catalogue for your institution.

Teach through RISE Learn

RISE Learn is the online platform for delivering the courses. A licensed educator can present course slides to a class and return to the same place later. Course pages and their available previews are public, so your team can review the material before arranging access.

Private schools, academies, and other institutions can discuss their teaching needs with RISE. Schools with different governance or funding arrangements should evaluate the material against their own curriculum and classroom requirements.

Make progress visible in language arts

Pair a Reading and Writing with Purpose unit with a baseline writing task, a common rubric, and a later independent task. Look for evidence of clearer organisation, relevant textual support, vocabulary use, and revision. This gives your teachers a practical way to judge how the material works in their classroom.

Dr. Shameeza Khan, Ed.D. (University of Portland), founded RISE through her classroom and curriculum work. The books are used at Edmonton Islamic Academy. Read the contributor biography and public course samples to evaluate the expertise behind the resources.
